Prof. Lizar Alfansi, MBA, PhD served as the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at the University of Bengkulu from 2018 to 2021. He has also held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) for two terms and chaired the postgraduate program in Master of Management at the University of Bengkulu. In 2009, he was a visiting fellow at the Regional Business School, La Trobe University, Bendigo, Australia. In 2010, he served as an examiner for the Doctor of Business Administration thesis at The University of Newcastle, Australia. He has been a reviewer for the Directorate General of Higher Education (Dikti), an assessor for Lamemba, and a reviewer for several Scopus Q1-Q2 journals. He has been a guest lecturer and external examiner in the Doctor of Management program at Prasetia Mulya University, Doctoral Program in Management at the University of Riau, IPB University, Brawijaya University, UNSRI, UNJA, and Gunadarma University.

He earned his Bachelor of Economics degree in Management from the University of Bengkulu in 1988, an MBA from the University of Central Arkansas, USA, in 1992, and a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Exeter, England, in 2001. In March 2010, the author was awarded the title of professor in the field of Marketing Management.

He frequently attends international conferences and has published scholarly articles in various Scopus-indexed international journals, such as the International Journal of Bank Marketing and the Journal of Nonprofit and Public Sector Marketing. The author (along with co-author Prof. Adrian Sargeant) won “The Best Academic Working Paper Award” at The Academy of Marketing Conference in 1998 in Sheffield, England, and in 2009, received the International Publication Award from Dikti. His book, “Financial Services Marketing: Targeting Indonesian Banking Consumers,” received the “Book of the Month” award from Marketing Magazine in March 2011. The book “Pemasaran Jasa Finansial,” written in 2012 and published by Salemba Empat, has become a benchmark textbook in the field of financial services marketing. A tourism marketing book will be published soon.

The author enjoys traveling and has visited almost every corner of Indonesia. In addition to his duties as a lecturer, he has had the opportunity to visit 25 countries, including the USA, England, Scotland, Australia, Italy, Switzerland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, China, Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, The Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Taiwan.
